Virginia “Lynn” Eldridge, 68, of Fleming Island, FL passed away Saturday morning surrounded by her family. She was born in Moultrie, Georgia to parents Virginia Norman Eldridge and Homer Jackson Eldridge. She lived her life to the fullest. She loved her people with her whole heart; her work colleagues, her friends, her church, and most of all her family. Lynn also loved her fur babies Daisy and Lillie dotting on them.

Lynn was a proud Blue Devil and 1974 graduate of Clay High School in Green Cove Springs, FL. She was a member of the Blue Devils band and served as the band Drum Major her senior year. After high school and some college Lynn started working for Winn Dixie headquarters as a secretary. She worked for Winn Dixie until 1981, when she took a position  with the department of defense at NAS Base in Jacksonville, FL as a management assistant in Human Resources. She was at NAS JAX  until 1995, and then transferred  to Guantánamo Bay, Cuba for the next 6 years. She later transferred to the Navy base in  Millington, TN and then transfered  to St. Augustine, FL  and worked  as a Management & Program Analyst at DCMA (Defense Contract Management Agency). During this time she  deployed  to Iraq for a year supporting the troops After her tour in Iraq, she returned to St Augustine until she retired September 30, 2019 after a 35 year career.

Lynn was best known for her love of cooking and baking. She never passed up a chance to share her love with others through food. She would often make meals for her family, especially during the holidays and busy seasons of life. Throughout the years there were not many of her family members, friends and coworkers that had not had the privilege of eating one of her cakes. She had a passion and love for many things, one of those being shopping. She loved to give gifts and always presented them with a flourish. The wrapping was done with so much care and creativity.

Lynn loved to travel. Although she traveled extensively, her bucket list was always growing. She had traveled overseas many times, to places like Germany, Europe, Cuba, Spain and Iraq but Moultrie, Georgia was her second home. She was not only born there but visited as often as she could.  Each summer she would join her brother and cousins to help their Grandparents Wheeler and Ola Norman on the farm.

Lynn was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, and sang in the choir for over 20 years. Over the years there she met many friends that were more like family to her. Lynn had a heart for Jesus and people. She became a member of Sardis Primitive Baptist Church in 2002 and remained faithful up until her passing. Above all Lynn loved and valued her relationship with her Lord Jesus Christ. Lynn will be dearly missed by her family and her many friends. She will be forever in our hearts and minds. Every day we will think of her with love and kindness for the person she was. A life that was far too short.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents Virginia Mattie Norman Eldridge and Homer Jackson Eldridge; and niece, Christina Eldridge.

She is survived by her brother Larry Eldridge, sister- in law, Marsha Eldridge; nieces, Diana Warren (Stephen) and Lisa Eldridge; nephews, Christopher Eldridge (Elise), Bradley Warren, Cameron Eldridge, and Blake Warren; Aunt, Betty Burke; her fur babies Daisy and Lillie; and many other dearly loved family members and friends.
