Shawn Scott Thurmond, 31

Shawn Scott Thurmond, 31, of Middleburg, FL passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2020.  Shawn was born in St. Augustine, FL and spent his early childhood years in Atlantic Beach before moving to Clay County 20 years ago.  He was an RV technician at Campers Inn RV.  He attended Tynes Elementary School, Wilkinson Junior High School and Middleburg High School.  Shawn enjoyed mudding and boating and was a survivalist.

Shawn was preceded in death by his wife, Rashelle Kirsch.  He is survived by his parents, Jeff and Mary Free; two brothers, Stefan Sheehe and Chris Gainey (Marianne); three sisters, Ashlynn Free (Chris Ray), Kat Downie (Nathan), and Amber Thurmond; grandmother, Anne Gainey; four nephews, Andrew Gainey, Tyrian Gainey, James Ray and William Abele; dear friends, Curtis and Brittany Johnson; and his three cats, Hot Sauce, Orange Peel and String Bean, who will now be cared for by his brother, Stefan.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM Friday, March 13, 2020 in the Chapel of Russell Haven of Rest.  Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior at 10:00AM.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in Shawn’s memory to the Safe Animal Shelter, https://safeanimalshelter.com/donate-today/.
