Sarah Diane Roman, 35, of Melbourne, FL passed away Saturday, June 4, 2022.  Sarah was born January 27, 1987 in Pensacola, FL to John Whalen and Laura Von Schondorf.  She moved to the Clay County area in 1995 and then spent a few years in North Carolina before settling in Melbourne.  She graduated from Fleming Island High School in 2005, attended Florida State College of Jacksonville as well as Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, NC where she earned her associate degree.  She was currently attending St. Leo’s University.

Sarah loved going to the beach, taking her children to theme parks, especially Disney World, and reading.  She was very athletic and played many sports, including tennis, soccer, and golf.  She also enjoyed running and spending time at the gym.  Sarah was outgoing and easily made friends wherever she went.  She was very giving, thoughtful and selfless as she always thought of others first.  Sarah’s laugh was one of a kind and will never be forgotten. 

Sarah was preceded in death by grandparents, John Whalen, Theresa Whalen, Louis Von Schondorf, and Philip McConnell.  She is survived by her father, John Whalen; mother, Laura Von Schondorf (Paul Carter); son, Alexander Roman; daughter, Ariana Roman; father of her children, Stephen Roman; sister, Melissa Sutton (Ryan); grandmother, Jeanne McConnell; nieces, Harper and Delaney Sutton; as well as aunts, uncles, family members and friends.    

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 13, 2022 at 11:00am in the chapel at Russell Haven of Rest with Patrick Martin officiating.  Visitation with the family will be Sunday, June 12, 2022 4:00-6:00pm at Russell Haven of Rest.
