Remembering Sugar, 14 wonderful years
Sugar crossed the rainbow bridge Wednesday, September 30th peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. She was born April 4, 2006 in Orange City, Florida and came to live in Green Cove Springs in June of 2006.
Sug’s favorite activities were going to the beach with her family, opening Christmas presents, eating people food and greeting people while working at the funeral home. Sugar loved going to Grandmama and Papa’s house as she was doted on to the nth degree. Her favorite activities there were watching the news, snarfing the yard, barking at kids in the pool and enjoying a chocolate milkshake.
More than anything else, Sugar loved her people. And her people included pretty much everyone she met. Children and babies were especially a favorite of hers. She spent her 14 years greeting grieving families at Russell Haven of Rest and even attended a few funerals. She was a sweet face with a loving wag to gently soften one of life’s hardest times, the loss of a loved one.
Sugar lost her battle with cancer after exceeding any amount of time the vets gave her to live. She lived the very best life. We like to think she was greeted on the other side by all the loved ones whose families she helped.
We will think of her every time we open a cheese wrapper or eat m&ms. We will miss her every time we go to the beach. We will continue to think of her every day.
Sug will be forever missed and forever remembered because without her, life will never be the same.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you give your critters some extra love and extra treats in honor of Sugar.
