Melva Mullen Kelly, 94 of Callahan, FL passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022. Melva was born in Perry, FL and grew up in the Jacksonville area. In 1944, Melva and her late husband of 59 years, James Albert Kelly, boarded the bus in Mobile, AL and headed to Pensacola to get married. Melva briefly worked at a laundromat before being a homemaker and raising her family. Over the years, she was a collector of many treasures that she would find at various sales, was a member of Normandy Church of Christ, and loved to play jokes on those she loved. She loved to crochet and also loved all things beautiful. She was famous for her fried chicken and oyster gravy. Melva will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Kelly was preceded in death by her son, Harry James Kelly and daughter Shirley Jean McCarroll, and is survived by her children, Tommy J. Kelly, Margie Cooper and Louise (Kim) Hoffecker, daughter-in-law, Linda Kelly, 14 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren and extended family members.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 28, 2022 in the Chapel of Russell Haven of Rest Funeral Home with burial in Holly Hill Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
