Marion Lafayette Jones, 88

Marion Lafayette Jones, 88, of Fleming Island, FL passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022.  He was a native of Jacksonville, FL and born in 1934 to the late Albert and Leila Jones.  Marion served his country for 20 years in the United States Air Force where he was an aircraft mechanic and instructor before retiring.  He also retired as a manager from Orkin Pest Control after 20 years.  When he wasn’t working, Marion enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with family.

Marion was a wise man and had a positive influence on many lives. He was known by many as a gentle giant and the sweetest man you’ve ever met.

Marion was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jones; his parents, Albert and Leila Jones; two sons, Glen Jones and Sam Parker; one daughter, Marisa Bennett; one brother, Albert Jones, Jr; and two sisters, Edna Norman and Sarah Chester.  He is survived by two sons, Randy Jones (Freda) and Jim Jones (Tammy); three daughters, Sandra Wilson, Kristi Holt and Virginia Powers (Lynn); one brother, Edgar Jones; 14 grandchildren, 18 greatgrandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
