LCDR Stephen Thate was a phenomenal Naval Officer, I am profoundly saddened by his passing. He was a great mentor for me while in the Gulfport area.

Stephen, It was the highest honor to be your friend, consider you and older brother, a dang fine Naval Officer of the highest caliber. This world has lost something intangibly precious with your passing. Go now my brother to your well deserved rest and take up your place guarding the gates of the heavens along with our fellow Marines and Corpsmen. I will see you again one day but not until my watch is ended. It was a blessing to have both Nigel and Alex in my life. It’s just hard to believe that you are gone.

Fair winds and Follow Seas Shipmate. Your watch is ended. Be now at peace my brother.

    V/r,
    Misha
