Lori Suzanne Garcia, 61, of Fleming Island, FL passed away peacefully at home on July 30 2021, surrounded by her family.  She was born on August 4 1959 in Cherry Point, North Carolina to the late Clyde Hopper and Elsie Wright Kennett.  Lori moved to the area from Memphis, TN as a child.  She graduated from Clay High School in 1977, followed by Jones College and began a long career as a paralegal.  Her career allowed her to work with many distinguished attorneys, including Shawn Pope and Don St. Denis.

Lori loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She was a strict mom but spoiled her grandkids who lovingly call her “Nana”.  Lori loved to host friends and family in her home for holidays, especially Christmas.  Her love of yardwork was genetic as she came from a long line of women who could pull weeds for hours.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Rick, to many places all over the world, but Key West and North Carolina were her favorite.  Lori loved going to the beach as well as riding her bike.  But most of all, she loved her family and being with them.

Lori was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde “Buddy” Hopper and Elsie Wright Kennett.  She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Rick Garcia; two daughters, Brooke Bishop (Brad) and Abbey McKillop (Ian); three grandchildren, Keegan Gill, Lily Bishop and Liam Bishop; one sister, Katy Kirill (Pete); two nephews, Jason Burhyte (Suzanne) and Matt Burhyte (Agnes); mother-in-law, Wilma Garcia; and Bailey, her beloved golden retriever.

A memorial service will be held Monday, August 9, 2021 at 11am in the chapel at Russell Haven of Rest with Patrick Martin officiating.  Visitation with the family will be one hour prior at 10am.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in Lori’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, https://www.stjude.org/donate.
