
Karen Lea McClain, 62
Karen Lea McClain, 62, of Green Cove Springs, FLpassed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born in Chateauroux, France to the late John Koons and Joan Britton Koons. She called Norman, OK home until moving to north Florida in 1996. Karen was a straightforward woman who would tell you where you stood with her. She was a strong and loving wife and mother who did everything for her husband and sons. As amazing as she was as a wife and mother, she was the proudest Nana.
Karen also devoted her life to helping animals who were lost or in need of rescue. She started the Clay & Duval County, FL – Lost & Found Pets page on Facebook to help reunite families with their pets. Karen grew the page to over 12,000 members in 8 years. She also rescued her own fur babies, Brodie, Mimi and Ella.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, John and Joan Koons; her brother, Ronald Koons; and her two sisters, Sue Nessel and Jackie Koons. Karen is survived by her loving husband of over 47 years, Ricky McClain; her two sons, Michael McClain and Bobby McClain; as well as her three grandchildren who call her “Nana Karen”, Ethan McClain, Taylor McClain, and Gage McClain.
