James William Carr, 82

James William “Jim” Carr, 82, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022.  He was born in Paragould, AR to the late Ben and Norma Cline Carr.  Jim proudly served his country for over 20 years in the United States Army.  His Army service included service in Vietnam, Africa, and Germany.  After his retirement from the Army, Jim worked for more than ten years with the IRS.   He was very proud of his country and his military service.  He was a quiet man, was very sweet to his grandchildren, and kind to his neighbors.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Norma Carr; and a daughter, Hellen Heyer.  He is survived by his wife of 33 year, Sumi Carr; two sons, Tony Carr and Ike Ettinger (Shannon); two daughters, Penny Carr and Cathy Wright; two brothers, Wayne Carr (Shalia) and Garry Carr (Pam); one sister, Janet Hicks; and eight grandchildren, Dylan, Dawson, Derek, Rachel, Robin, Hannah, Halley and Hattie.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 2:00pm in the chapel at Russell Haven of Rest with Patrick Martin officiating.  Visitation with the family will begin at 1:30pm.  Burial with military honors will follow in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery.
