James Allen Walls, 67

James Allen Walls, 67, of Fleming Island, FL passed away Friday, March 18, 2022.  Allen was born in Hazlehurst, GA to Irene Drawdy Branch and the late James Walls.  Prior to moving to Clay County over 30 years ago, Allen grew up in the Jacksonville area, attending Terry Parker High School as well as St. Johns River Community College.  He retired from AT&T after a 43 year career that started in the mail room and ended as a service technician.  Allen enjoyed the outdoors and spent time fishing, boating, camping and hiking.  He was also active in church and loved singing in the choir on Sunday mornings.  Most of all, Allen was a great family man and loved his family very much.  As Papa to three grandchildren, Allen never missed a concert, sporting event or show the grandchildren were involved in.  He was proud to be there to offer his support and encouragement.  Allen was eager to lend a helping hand to those around and will be greatly missed. 

Allen was preceded in death by his father, James Walls; sister, Gail Hicks; and brother-in-law, Ronnie Hicks.  He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Elena; his mother, Irene Branch (Joe Savayano); one son, Michael Leach (Christie); sister Janice Wood (Rick); step-sister, Susan Savayano; three grandchildren, Nathan Leach, Anna Leach, and Naomi Leach; as well as other extended family members. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in Allen’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,https://www.stjude.org/donate/ or The Salvation Army, https://give.salvationarmyusa.org/give/. 

A graveside service will be held Monday, March 21, 2022 at 1:00pm at Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery with Rev. Ron Baker officiating.
