Ismael Richard Negrin, Sr., 74

Ismael Richard Negrin, Sr. passed away on Monday December 5, 2022, after reaching the age of 74 years old. Richard was born on March 17, 1948, in Key West, Florida to the late Ismael and Zoila Negrin. As a boy, he loved spending time with his brothers and sister, Robert, Jimmy (Dana), and Tammy (Terry). Growing up he enjoyed working on cars and Vespa scooters, which became a lifelong hobby. As a young adult, Richard was a mechanic in the United States Army from 1967-1969, during which he served in Vietnam. After his service, he returned to Key West where he worked as a power plant operator at City Electric alongside his father before moving to northeast Florida in 1978. He spent much of his career as a small engine mechanic, working for McStephenson’s small engine repair, and later starting ‘The Lawnmower Clinic’ in lake asbury before retiring.

He was the epitome of a true 70’s free spirit who loved life, nature, peace, and music, but most of all, loved his family with everything he had. His children and grandchildren were at the center of his life and always came before everything else. Richard’s legacy will be carried on by his 8 children he fathered with ex-wife Barbara Negrin Koch, and his 12 grandchildren who adored “Grandpa” with so much excitement. He was a devoted father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren: Shelly Heath with three daughters, Melissa West with one son and one daughter, Richard Negrin, Jr. and wife Christy with one daughter and two sons, Tony Negrin and wife Angel with one son and one daughter, Dixie Negrin-Verdel and husband Brent, Joey Negrin and wife Christina, Amber Negrin with two sons, and Manny Negrin and partner Amanda.

Richard enjoyed spending his time appreciating nature. He had a green thumb like no other and could grow anything. He enjoyed tending to his plants that he often referred to as “his friends.” His creative photography of scenery and flowers will always be cherished fondly. He also enjoyed caring for his pet goats and his dog, Louie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Haven Hospice, https://beyourhaven.org/donate.
