Greg graduated from Stranahan High School in 1964 and immediately joined the Air Force, serving with distinction on two consecutive Vietnam tours as C-130 Special Ops Aircrew. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 58 years, Brenda Claire (Froling) Wood, a loving father to his sons Eric, Troy, and Adam, and a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather. His home was always open, his storytelling legendary, particularly when discussing his favorite subject-aviation.
In addition to his family and faith, Greg had diverse interests. He penned an aviation technical reference manual, delved into genealogy research, enjoyed traveling, and even found joy in collecting and assembling Legos. His educational pursuits were lifelong, taking many courses through his Air Force service and later at Liberty Bible College.
