George Irving Baker, 59
George “Jay” Irving Baker, 59, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Fleming Island, FL on May 18, 2022. He was born in Syracuse, NY on April 11, 1963 to George and Mary Baker.
Jay was a graduate of Fayetteville-Manlius High School in 1980. For the past 33 years Jay spent his career in sales, primarily in the snack industry. During his career, he had the opportunity to focus on selling beer and pretzels, two things you could always count on him to bring to any event. He was most recently employed by Campbell’s Snacks as a District Manager for the Syracuse area. Jay recently retired and was looking forward to living in his new residence in Florida, with his loving fiancé, Allison Cloutier.
Jay was blessed with two children who loved him dearly. Anyone who knew Jay knew how much of an amazing father he was. Jay was his children’s biggest supporter and was often found coaching their sports teams and attending all his children’s events. Jay was commonly known to cheer the loudest in the crowd and was the coach that all the kids wanted to play for, as he made everything fun. Along with being devoted to his children, Jay was a devoted son who cherished time with his parents. He spent countless weekends playing cards and preparing delicious home-cooked meals at their home.
Jay enjoyed traveling, hiking, barbequing, and long walks on his favorite beaches of Cape Cod and Myrtle Beach. He was a vintage car enthusiast who frequently attended car shows. Throughout his life he owned a number of his own “muscle” cars that he loved taking others for rides in. His most favorite car was his treasured Z28 Camaro in which you could hear him coming from a mile away.
Jay is survived by his parents, George and Mary Baker of Chittenango, NY; his two children Justin of Baldwinsville, NY and Mackenzie of Tully, NY; his fiancé Allison Cloutier; two sisters Lisa Rowland and Lory Wittwere also of New York; and several nieces and nephews.
Jay’s kindness, generosity, and sense of humor was appreciated by all who knew and loved him. After his unexpected passing, Jay continued helping others through the donation of tissue and organs. Services will be held privately. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
