Geoffrey Douglass Peabody, 67
Geoffrey “Geoff” Douglass Peabody, 67, of Fleming Island, FL passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024. He was born in Miami, FL to the late John and Alice Peabody and graduated from North Fort Myers High School in 1976. After high school, Geoff proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years. Geoff worked in the construction and warehouse management field for over thirty years, with the last part of his career at the Church of Eleven 22. An avid reader, he enjoyed adventure and mystery novels as well as the Western genre. Geoff also enjoyed being by the water which led to many trips to the beach as well as stops by Lake Thurmond while traveling from South Carolina back to Florida. He was also a diehard fan of the Florida State University Seminoles and the Dallas Cowboys.
Geoff was a quiet and reserved man with a kind and compassionate heart. His sense of humor could also be described as quiet and reserved. He would crack a joke when you least expected it and always got a good laugh from those who heard. Geoff was also a “do-it-yourself” kind of man who was able to repair and build things. Most of all, Geoff adored his family as they were his greatest source of pride. His wife, four children and six grandchildren were his whole world.
Geoff was preceded in death by his parents, John Peabody and Alice Wright Peabody. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Cheryl Perry Peabody; two sons, Joshua Peabody (Sarah) and Matthew Peabody (Stephanie); two daughters, Jaymee Robinson (Cory) and Malyssa Peabody (Roy – fiancé); three brothers, Dayle Peabody (Bonnie), Bryan Peabody (Kristy) and Ian Peabody (Joan); as well as six grandchildren who call him “Popi”, Klinton Peabody, Harper Peabody, Tenleigh Peabody, Bridger Peabody, Elliott Robinson, and Alex Robinson; as well as extended family members.
A memorial service will be held at 11am Saturday, December 21, 2024 at his beloved church, The Church of Eleven 22 – Fleming Island Campus.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in his memory to The Church of Eleven 22, https://coe22.com/give/.
