Doris Serini Vining, 94

Doris Marie Serini Vining, 94, of Melrose, FL passed away Monday, July 1, 2024.  Doris was born in Granite City, IL to the late Ed and Pearl Serini as one of nine children.  She moved to north Florida as a young adult and made her life there as a wife and mother.  Doris was employed at several local companies before starting a day care business on the west side of Jacksonville, Punkin Place, which she operated with her family for over 40 years.  She always loved children and spent many years teaching two-, three- and four-year-olds in Sunday School at First Baptist Church of Jacksonville.  Doris enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, as well as jigsaw puzzles.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Pearl Serini; and her beloved husband, Freeman Judson Vining.  She is survived by her son, Curtis Judson Vining (Kim); two daughters, Robin Huey (Ken) and Cynthia Hicks (William); five brothers, Billy, Bobby, Earl, Ralph and Clarence; two sisters, Dorothy and Shirley; four grandchildren, Cory Vining, Kevin Tucker, Jason Rudeseal and Rachel Rudeseal; 3 great-grandchildren; as well as many other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 11am at First Baptist Middleburg with Ralph Estevez officiating.
