Darren Jacob Cotton, 23

Darren Jacob Cotton left us on December 5, 2024. Darren was born on August 30, 2001, in Orange Park, Florida, the town that he spent most of his life and considered home. He was a greatly loved son, grandson, and brother.

Darren was kindhearted and known for being silly, he loved to make others smile. One of the highlights of his life was his family’s time at the “River Ranch” where he got to be a cowboy. He was a talented songwriter with a decade long passion for both writing and playing music. His repertoire consisted of any stringed instrument he could find. However, his favorite was always the banjo. He spent many hours diligently honing his skills and proudly played for anyone that was interested.

Above all, his life was defined by the abounding love he had for his family. He leaves behind his parents, Tim and Amy; his brother, Timothy Dallen; his sister, Regan, and his future brother-in-law, Lucas Abbruzese (3/1/2025). He is also survived by his grandmother, Mary Lou Cotton; and numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He will also be missed by his beloved dogs, Mason and Roxy, and his cat, General, whom he rescued 13 years ago.

Services to honor Darren will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, in the Chapel of Russell Haven of Rest. Burial will follow in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery where he will lay in rest alongside his dear Papa, Thaddeus Cotton.

Darren was a lifelong friend to animals, especially dogs, upon which he often poured his affections. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his memory to a local humane society of your choosing so that more animals may benefit from his love.
