Daniel Ian Rivera, 33

Daniel Ian Rivera was born March 13 th , 1991, in Middletown, NY, to Maryanne Taragano and the late Juan Rivera. Growing up, he loved to hang out with his dad, look up to his big brother John, tease his big sister Nikki and do trivia contests with his mom.

As a student, Daniel was very athletic and was active in Little League and basketball throughout his school years. He was passionate about the NY Yankees and even caught a game at the stadium once in a while. He also enjoyed playing guitar and was quite the singer.

As a young man he had a strong desire to serve his country, and after much reflection, he enlisted in the US Navy. He was a certified Search and Rescue Swimmer, and was awarded medals for saving lives in Subic Bay, Philippines.

During his enlistment, he spent 4 years in Japan. He was stationed in Yokosuka, where he met his lovely wife, Lyza. Together, they had three beautiful daughters, Lyla, Danielle, and Paisley. He was a devoted husband, and a loving father to his three little girls, who adored him.

Upon retirement from the Navy, Daniel became a member of local law enforcement. He was always looking to find the good that he could do in his community.  Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Lyza; his daughters Lyla, Danielle, and Paisley; his mother, Maryanne Rivera; his sister, Nikki Gallo (Dominick); and brother, John Rivera (Jen); his nephew ,Hunter; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at Russell Haven of Rest located at 2335 Sandridge Rd., Green Cove Springs, FL 32043 on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. Visitation with the family will be at 1:00PM with service following at 2:00PM.
