Chad Bryan Ownby, 35

Chad Bryan Ownby, 35, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away Sunday, October 15, 2023.  A lifelong resident of Clay County, Chad was born in Orange Park, FL to Bryan and Debra Barber Ownby.  From a young age, Chad was a talented musician.  He enjoyed Bluegrass music, singing and playing the mandolin with his family.  Chad graduated from Clay High School in 2006 and went on to work as a corrections officer at the Florida State Prison in Raiford as well as at the Clay County Jail.  Most recently, Chad was employed at Inline Lawn and Fence in Green Cove Springs.

Chad enjoyed watching Gator football as well as the Jags and NASCAR on Sundays.  You could find Chad sitting on his porch, relaxing.  He was a social person, always talking on the phone with a friend.  Chad had a big heart and was willing to help anyone.

Chad was preceded in death by his mom, Debra Ownby.  He is survived by his wife of five years, Nicole Ownby; two sons, Braxton Ownby and Karsen Ownby; dad, Bryan Ownby; brother, Scott Ownby; grandparents; Jack and Carolyn Piccolo; nieces, Jenna and Kiley; nephews, Landon, Brycen, Waylen, William and Stetson; mother-in-law, Sharon Carlisle (Greg); father-in-law, Tony Hutchins; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family members.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 11:00am in the chapel at Russell Haven of Rest with Randall Griffis officiating.  Burial will follow at Penney Farms Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 10:00am, one hour prior to the funeral service, at Russell Haven of Rest.
