Carlos Roark, 77

Carlos Roark, 77 of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022 at his residence with family by his side.  Carlos was born in Evarts, Kentucky to the late Cody and Martha Roark and had been a resident of Florida for the past two years.  He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War and retired after 46 years from Arrow Gear Company as a lead man/machinist in Downers Grove, Illinois.

Mr. Roark was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in August of 2017, but recognized his ultimate healing would come from God in His timing.  His testimony was strong throughout his illness as Carlos always had a smile on his face.  He was a man of humility; loyal to anyone he met, always included everyone, and was a man of few words.  He enjoyed traveling and was able to visit 34 of the states on his quest to see them all.  As a believer, Carlos accepted Christ in 1971 and was a member of Russell Baptist Church.  He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Mr. Roark is survived by his wife of 52 years, Maria Roark, sons, Darin (Natasha) Roark, Shawn (Tamara) Roark and Dwayne “DJ” (Jody) Roark, was one of fourteen siblings and is survived by his brother, Cody Roark, Jr., sisters, Marlene Osborne, Genell Verklan, and Wanda Brownlee, and eight grandchildren, Cass, Quin, Anderson, Brendan, Shaylin, Hannah, Aubrey, and Deacon.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 9, 2022 in the Chapel of Russell Haven of Rest with Pastor Patrick Martin officiating.  Burial will follow in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be from 1-2:00 PM prior to services.
