C. David Silcox, 80 of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024. He was born in Palatka, Florida to the late John Davis and Abbye Powell Silcox. David was a lifetime resident of Clay County.

David was a man of many contradictions who loved telling grand stories yet lived a life of simplicity. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 23 years, but really one would have thought him an employee of Cracker Barrel thanks to his “Lifetime Membership” of near daily patronage for over 30 years. Later in his life David renewed his relationship with his savior, Jesus Christ, whom he served in membership at Lake Asbury Baptist Church. David’s passions included working on the family farm and spending time tinkering on his hot rods. David’s personality was contagious. His life was full of close friends who can best be described as nothing short of his own adoring fan base. He charmed everyone with his charismatic smile and infectious personality.

David was preceded in death by his sister Mary Jo. He is survived by his daughter, Gidgette (Robbie) Lewis, grandchildren, Autumn, Summer, and Robbie II (Angelique) and three great grandchildren, Robbie III, Reid, and Amellia, as well as many loving, bonus family members. David’s extended family consisted of a niece and nephew and many cousins. His relationship with his cousins was a special one as they were his first friends. David and his cousin Herb remained extra close up until the end, talking daily and sharing their grand stories. David will be missed dearly by all who knew him, but they will all take comfort in the fact that he was “a happy hawg” up until the moment he entered the waiting arms of Jesus.

Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Lake Asbury Baptist Church with burial in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery Heritage Section following. Reverend Charles McGuckin and Mr. Robbie Lewis will officiate. A time of visitation will begin at 1:00PM on Wednesday prior to services.

Arrangements are under the care of Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery, Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 2335 Sandridge Road, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043. Family and friends may share their condolences at: www.RHRFH.com (904) 284-7720.
