Betty Jean West, 84, of Fleming Island, FL passed away Monday, August 2, 2021.  She was born in Macon, GA to the late Louie Meredith, Sr. and Thelma Slaughter Meredith.  Betty started her lengthy banking career at Jacksonville National Bank in Jacksonville and worked her way up to branch manager.  She attended Hibernia Baptist Church in Fleming Island.  Betty loved going for rides on the beach, going on cruises with her late husband, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry L. West; one son, Timothy West; one daughter, Candie West; and one brother, Louie Meredith, Jr.  She is survived by two sons, Steven Chairmont and David West (Robin Butler); two daughters, Catherine Warren and Susan Schrowder; one brother, Robert Meredith; one sister, Penny Cooper; 14 grandchildren, including Jocye Butler, Jesse Scott and Jimmy Scott; as well as many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 6, 2021 at 2:00pm in the chapel at Russell Haven of Rest with Paul Sweat officiating.  Visitation with the family will be one hour prior at 1:00pm.  Private burial will follow in Riverside Memorial Park.
