Allen Dean Cotton, 57

Allen Dean Cotton, 57, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones, on July 8, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born on March 30, 1966, in Winnsboro, South Carolina. The family moved to Columbia, South Carolina three months later. In June of 1978 the family was transferred to Orange Park, Florida. Allen called Clay County home for the next 45 years.

Allen worked in the construction industry for close to 30 years. Most of his projects were in north Florida except for stints in Africa and Europe.  He was an avid outdoorsman who was most comfortable in a tree stand or on the water.

Allen was a beloved father, ‘papa’, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend. He is survived by his four children  Justin Allen Cotton, 25, of Middleburg, Ashley Brooke (Cotton) Wolfford, 25, her husband, Gunnar and their 2-year-old son, Maverick William, his first grandson, Haley Nicole (Cotton) Yagecic, 25, her husband, Matt and their 2-year-old daughter, Paisley Grace, his first granddaughter, Logan Dean Cotton, 21, of Orange Park.  And survived by his parents, Thad  and Mary Lou Cotton of Orange Park. Siblings Shannon Cotton Burch (Brent), Jay Cotton, Tim Cotton and his wife Amy, their children Dallen (26), Regan (24), and Darren (21), and Marla Cotton Dietrich and her children, Sean (28) and Bailey (23).  He is predeceased by his brother, Tom Cotton, (October 2022) and niece, Peyton Dietrich,(February 2021).

Services to honor Allen will be Noon Saturday, July 15, 2023 in the Chapel of Russell Haven of Rest with burial to follow in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will begin at 11:00 AM until Noon.
