Elba Iris Ayala, 83 of Fleming Island, FL passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025. Elba was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico to the late Valentine Ayala and Juanita Santana. She moved to New York at the age of 15 and had lived in Fleming Island for the past nine years. Over the years, Elba was a hairdresser and enjoyed knitting and cooking. She was a woman of faith, was a great crossword puzzle player and was best at being “Tata” to her family.
Mrs. Ayala was preceded in death by her husband, Feliciano Nieves and is survived by her daughters, Gladys Santiago, Hilda Nieves-Ayala, and Iris Lozano, brothers and sisters, Isabel, Lourdes, Dolly, Junior, Genevive, Joey, Judy, Paul and Myrta, 7 grandchildren, Gladimar, Joshua, Iraida, Laynie, Yalis, Moises, and Angel, and 6 great grandchildren, Araceli, Zavier, Jasper, Orion, Zoe, and Tala.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 28, 2025, in the Chapel of Russell Haven of Rest Funeral Home with burial to follow in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery. A time of visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until services begin.
