Laverne B. Metts, 82 of Middleburg, FL passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025.  Mrs. Metts was born in Douglas, Georgia to the late Jesse and Virchel Burnam and moved to Middleburg from Jacksonville in 1991.  After moving to Jacksonville from Douglas in 1960, Laverne worked for Bellsouth and retired after a career of almost 30 years.

Mrs. Metts loved when the hummingbirds returned and enjoy the challenge of putting puzzles together.  She always had a place in her heart for her grandchildren and her great grandchildren always have a place in theirs for “Meme”.  Laverne will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Mrs. Metts was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Carlton Metts, two brothers, Bobby Burnam and Jimmy Burnam and her sister, Frances Thomas.  She is survived by her children, Greg (Kristie) Metts, Sr. and Sharon (Rick) Williams, sisters, Barbara Shepherd, two grandsons, Greg Metts, Jr. and Lance (Jessica) Williams, three great grandchildren, Brooklynn, Hannah, and Addison, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, January 10, 2025 in the Chapel of Russell Haven of Rest with Bro. Gary Bailey officiating.  Burial will follow in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery.  A time of visitation will begin at 1:00 PM prior to services on Friday.
