Richard Arthur Correia died peacefully in UF Health Shand’s Hospital on December 23, 2024, in Gainesville, FL at the age of 78.  Richard was born on March 12, 1946, in Taunton, MA to Charles & Mary Correia. He graduated from Taunton High School in 1964.  Richard joined the United States Air Force and proudly served in Vietnam.  Upon his return from Vietnam, he worked as a Corrections Officer at MCI Walpole Prison and married Judith Ann Hudson, in 1971.  After moving to Orange Park, FL, Richard began working for Seaboard Coastline Railroad as a switchman.  In 1979, he founded Woodchucks Refinishing that would evolve into Woodchuck’s Fine Furniture, which is operated by his oldest son, Douglas.  From 1972 through 1981, the couple welcomed 3 into their home.

His children remember him as a loving father whose legacy was hard work and generosity.  He delivered on the promise of giving his kids a better life.

Richard was passionate about all Boston sports but none more than the Red Sox and often indulged in watching almost every game.  He was the most generous at helping anyone God put in his path.

Correia; his sister, Shirley Williams; and his brother, Charles Correia.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Friday, January 3, 2025, at Russell Haven of Rest, with his pastor of 11 years, Ron Baker, officiating.  A reception will follow at Dalton’s Sports Grille, and all are welcome to attend and celebrate Richard’s life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in Richard’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, https://www.stjude.org/donate.
