Joseph Albert Suain (Joe Suain) , 70 of Orange Park, passed away Monday Night, December 9, 2024, surrounded by family. Joe, born on June 1, 1954, in Warren, Ohio where he grew up before joining the US Navy. Serving stateside, he later settled down with his wife and 2 children in Orange Park in 1991. He proudly served his country and retired at NAS Jax in 1997. Being the hardworking man that he is, Joe set out for a 2nd retirement with the Florida Department of Corrections where he later retired at Raiford in 2016. During that time, you could also find him working at Winn-Dixie for what he called his “Date Money.”
A man who never met a stranger, Joe loved to share stories of all his adventures. He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, an uncle, and a son who loved his family and loved the Lord. Joe was a member of First Baptist Church of Middleburg where he met his “church family.” He loved his Sunday School class and attending the “Men’s Breakfast” once a week. He was a die hard Gator fan and a proud Washington “Redskins” fan.
Joe is proceeded in death by both parents, Francis (Frank) Suain and Martha Joseph as well as 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Joe is survived by his wife of 44 years, whom he called his “Beautiful Bride,” Beverly Suain, daughter Michelle Barela (Joshua Colvard), son Joseph (Heather) Suain, his 5 grandchildren who called him “Papa” Clayton, Eli, Brenden, Mason, and Roxy (his princess) along with his 3 sister-in-laws and a long list of nieces and nephews, 2 of which he helped raise.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 21, 2024, in the chapel of Russell Haven Funeral Home with Pastor Ralph Estevez officiating. Reception will follow at Fraternal Order Of Police Lodge #104 (address 2547 County Rd 220, Middleburg, FL 32068). A time of visitation will begin at 10:00 AM prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Middleburg “Camp Scholarship Fund”.
