Michael “Coach” Douglas Anderson, 72 passed away Friday, November 1, 2024. Michael was born in Brownsville, Texas to parents Geraldine and George Anderson. Michael was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He served from 1972 until 1978. He enjoyed spending time outside, and working on his yard. He was a perfectionist when it came to caring for his lawn, so much so that he started a lawn service as a side job. He was known to many as “Coach”. He LOVED LOVED LOVED the Washington Red Skins, to say he was just a fan would be an understatement.  Michael will be most remembered by his love for making people laugh and his willingness to welcome in others no matter what their circumstances were.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents Geraldine and George Anderson; daughters, Charlee Anderson and Ashley Lewter; and brother, Andy Anderson.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Chris Anderson; son, Michael W. Anderson; daughters Casie Kinsall (Kenny), and Amy Barker; brothers, William Gibson (Roseann), Buddy Anderson and Alan Anderson; Sisters, Elaine Bradshaw, Cathy Gibson, Ann Marie Anderson and Gayle Anderson; grandchildren, Kaylie McClain, Kortni McClain, Britney Barker, Breanna Barker and Diego Soto; and great-grandson, Lio Gabriel Anthony Casarez.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00PM Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at the Russell Haven of Rest Chapel. A time of visitation with the family will begin Tuesday at 12:00PM. A burial service will be on November 7, 2024 at 11:00AM at Jacksonville National Cemetery (4083 Lannie Rd Jacksonville, FL 32218)
