At Russell Haven of Rest, we are devoted to creating highly personalized services. From the moment you enter our funeral home, you will find a setting flooded with natural lighting and exuding a feeling of warmth, welcome and comfort.

Funeral Ceremony

Studies over the years continue to demonstrate the importance people place on a proper “goodbye” ceremony. After all, funerals are for the living. They allow those left behind, the ones who are grieving, the opportunity to acknowledge that a life was lived and someone will be missed.

Each one of us is different, and the way we choose to celebrate the life of someone dear to us is also completely unique. Whether your concerns are for a religious, cultural or family tradition, for personal preferences, or even for cost considerations, one fact still remains: We are here to honor the life of someone special in our lives. When fond memories are shared in a comforting setting, the funeral ceremony becomes a better way to begin a healthy grief recovery.
Provided below is an overview of the various types of services available at Russell Haven of Rest.

Traditional Service

A Traditional Service includes a time set aside for viewing and visitation in the funeral home, church or other facility. The visitation time usually takes place the evening before the day of the funeral service or at a designated time just prior to the funeral service. Along with that, a service may take place at the location of the family’s choice, such as the funeral-home chapel, church, a family member’s home or other special location. The funeral home would provide help in coordinating various aspects of the service and necessary automotive equipment, such as a hearse, flower vehicle and family cars. Purchases may include the following: casket, vault, register book, memorial folders, acknowledgement cards and other items to further personalize the service and reflect the interests of the deceased.

Graveside Service

Graveside Services usually include a time set aside for viewing and visitation in the funeral home, church or other facility. It typically takes place the evening before the day of the funeral service. Along with that, a service may take place at the burial site in the cemetery that the family has chosen. The funeral home helps coordinate various aspects of the service and necessary automotive equipment such as a hearse, flower vehicle and family cars. Purchases may include a casket, vault, register book, memorial folders, acknowledgement cards and other items to further personalize the service and reflect the interests of the deceased. A graveside service often follows a traditional service.

Memorial Service

A Memorial Service is a service without the casket of your loved one present. This could take place in the funeral home, church or another facility. The funeral home can help you coordinate various aspects of the service and necessary automotive equipment such as a flower vehicle or family cars. Purchases may include a register book, memorial folders, acknowledgement cards and other items to further personalize the service and reflect the interests of the deceased. Often, this type of service is used in conjunction with cremation.

Cremation

Cremation is chosen in accordance with one’s personal preferences, faith or cultural traditions. In contrast to burial, cremation is used as the final disposition of a loved one or friend. The funeral home will provide staff, necessary automotive equipment and the location of the cremation procedure. The cremated body is returned in a previously selected urn. Urns can be personalized and unique or as simple and plain as you wish. With cremation, families are still able to have a viewing and visitation time as well as a service in the funeral home, church or other facility. Cremation does not limit the opportunity to participate in a “goodbye.” The cremated body’s final resting place may be the cemetery of choice, a church cremation garden or a scattering garden.

Personalization

The time you spend with a staff member of Russell Haven of Rest helps us provide the special touches that will make your ceremony exceptional. We provide a variety of choices in caskets, vaults, urns and memorial packages. Each item can be personalized to reflect the interest and hobbies of the deceased family member.  Other ways of personalizing a funeral service may include the following:

  • Video Tributes
  • Photographic Collages
  • Displaying personal memorabilia
  • Writing and reading notes by and to the family during the service
  • Music selections, recorded as well as live music
  • Speakers or ministers which are dear to the family
  • Special customs particular to your family traditions, faiths, civic or ethnic groups
  • Many other choices

Everyone deserves to be remembered. At Russell Haven of Rest, we help you accomplish a remembrance that is meaningful, comforting and rewarding to your family.

From Our Celebrant: Creating a Legacy

Our time together will be one of sharing, of remembering and of planning a ceremony that clearly acknowledges the right and the need to grieve the loss and to uniquely honor the life of your loved one. We will work with the funeral director to see that music, video tributes or other rituals are coordinated and present a touching eulogy that represents your memories.

Military Honors

An honor guard and United States flag ceremony help show the family’s respect for the loved one’s service to our country.

Bagpipes

The piper’s mournful sound expressed feelings that words cannot; an ageless tradition and a moving tribute at any service, indoor or out. Bagpipes are a prominent part of funeral and memorial services for fallen police officers.

Balloon Release

Brilliant colors fill the sky and uplift the spirit as they symbolize the soul’s souring journey.

Butterfly Release

The Butterfly is nature’s ultimate symbol of change, transformation and beauty. Depending on the time of day, the butterflies will soar high into the trees and sky or land on the lower nearby plants.

Dove Release

The beautiful symbols of peace will inspire the thoughts and prayers of everyone who attends.
