Cayden Thomas Ingram, 14 years old, of Orange Park, Florida went to be with his Lord Jesus on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, after a nearly 3 year-long courageous battle against cancer.  Cayden was born in Daytona Beach, Florida on December 8, 2009.  His parents, (Thomas M. Ingram and Amy R.  Theurich-Ingram) moved to Orange Park, Florida in 2012, where Cayden grew up.

Cayden attended Grace Episcopal Day School (K-5) and St. Johns Country Day School (6-8). He was a recognized honor student at both learning institutions; and, further distinguished himself at St. Johns, where he was inducted into the school’s chapter of the National Junior Honor Society while in the 7th grade.  In addition to his academic abilities, Cayden was active in baseball, golf and basketball; and, he received the grade 8 “Spartan Award” for his commitment and never ending fighting spirit.  The Spartan Award was re-named the “Cayden Ingram Spartan Award” at a special school assembly on August 2, 2024; and, the award will be presented to a deserving student each year to honor Cayden’s memory.

Cayden played a lot of baseball over the years, starting with local “rec” teams and later with his middle school and travel teams.  With those school and travel teams, he played on some tournament and season championship teams.   Cayden’s passion was pitching, he loved the challenge of being on the “Hill”.  He usually led his team as a pitcher with fewest walks and lowest earned run average.  He enjoyed going to different MLB ballparks where he watched the Rays, Jumbo Shrimp, Brewers, and Reds with his parents, friends and relatives.

Beyond organized sports at school, Cayden was a student at the Golf Academy of North Florida where he received the “Ben Hogan Award” as its most outstanding player during 2021.  He was a member of the PGA Junior League of North-East Florida, and his team at Magnolia Point won the Jr. League Regional Championship in 2019.  Cayden played on the U.S. Kids Golf Winter Tour in Jacksonville; and, he won three medals in his age group.  Cayden’s favorite golfer was Jordan Spieth, and he met him at the Players Championship where Cayden and his dad walked a couple of holes with Jordan during a practice round.  Cayden and another Pro had a two-hole putting match playing Jordan; and it was a tie!

Besides playing and watching sports, building LEGOs and playing video games with friends, it can truly be said that he and his dad’s “Mission was Fishin’.”  Cayden’s dad taught Cayden all he knew about fishing; and, Cayden became a very accomplished fisherman. He fished in Kingfish tournaments the last two years and did quite well.  Over the last 5 years, Cayden caught and released at least 20 different species of saltwater and freshwater fish.  He also enjoyed frequent trips to the Gulf of Mexico to go snorkeling for bay scallops.

Cayden had many friends, and a few great ones.  To know Cayden was to love him; he was always there for anyone who needed a friend.  He loved his mom and dad and enjoyed every bit of the time he was able to spend with them, at home or on road trips.  Cayden was active in his church, where he was an altar server at St. Luke Catholic Church.

In addition to his loving dad, Tom, Cayden is survived by his Maternal grandparents, Shirley and David Theurich and his Aunt Susan and Uncle Barrey; and, many other friends and relatives, both far and near.  Cayden’s mom Amy predeceased him; and we believe Cayden is now with her in Heaven.
