Kathryn E. Justus, 80

Kathryn “Kay” Elizabeth Justus, 80, of Green Cove Springs, FL gained her angel wings, Friday, July 7, 2023.  She was born on January 19, 1943 in Fort Lauderdale to the late Wilbur and Eunice Mincey.  Kay moved to the Clay County area in 1971 after spending some time in Key West and Fort Lauderdale.  She worked for the Clay County School System for 15 years in the cafeteria and as a bus monitor.  Kay worked as a beautician in Fort Lauderdale and at Moosehaven in Orange Park. 

An “Energizer Bunny”, Kay kept busy and enjoyed working in her garden and tending to her flowers.  Kay’s flowers were beautiful from Florida to Virginia. She and her husband enjoyed many cross country trips in their motor home covering forty seven states, including Canada and three separate trips to Alaska.  Kay adored her husband, and they did everything together.  Kay was lovingly called Grandma Kay by her three grandsons and Gigi by her three great-grandchildren.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Eunice Mincey; one son, Marty Justus; two brothers, Wilbur and Fred Mincey; and one sister, Barbara Williams. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Leo Justus; one son, Ricky Justus (Renee); three sisters, Melba Justus, Vivian Parlin, and Rosemary Collie; three grandsons, Ricky Justus (Christina), Keith Justus (Jessica), and Greg Justus; three great-grandchildren, Katie, Jayce, and Gracie Justus.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 10:00am at Penney Farms Cemetery with Dr. Chris Bonts officiating.  Visitation with the family will be held Monday, July 10, 2023 from 3:00pm-4:00pm at Russell Haven of Rest.
