Norman Carlton Barber, 83 of Green Cove Springs, FL passed Friday, July 8, 2022. Norman was born in Jacksonville to the late William Carlton and Mildred Floyd Barber and moved to Lake Asbury in 1973. He was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School where he played football and also graduated from Jacksonville University where he was a member of the Crew Team. After graduation, Norman worked briefly at WW Gay prior to his career with Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department. Norman “Brup” spent 25 years at Station 10 as a ladder engineer and retired from Station 23 after 3 years in 1996 for a total of 28 years. He also was a self-employed in architecture and construction.
Norman enjoyed RV traveling throughout the United States including Alaska, was a talented sketch artist, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He attended Russell Baptist Church.
Mr. Barber was preceded in death by his wife, Marcia Barber and grandson, Luke and is survived by his children, Stacey Barber, Michaele (Tim) Ward and William Barber, grandchildren, Jesse, Lily, Ella and Madeleine.
Funeral Services will be Noon Thursday, July 14, 2022 in the Chapel of Russell Haven of Rest with burial to follow in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery. Visitation with the family will begin at 11:00 AM prior to services.
