John Robert Smith, 56, of Middleburg, FL passed away Friday, August 20, 2021.  Robert was born in Crystal Springs, MS to the late Maddie Smith.  Robert moved to the area at a young age and spent most of his life in northeast Florida.  As a hardworking man, Robert had a 30 year career in the sign manufacturing business working for Signline and most recently Spectrum Signs.  He also had a lawn business in addition to the sign company, Robert’s Lawn Service.  He was an outdoorsman and loved fishing and hunting, especially taking hunting trips to Alabama.  Robert was a simple man and loved being “Papa” to Kaylee and Brooklyn.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Maddie Smith; wife and mother of his son, Jennifer Smith; one sister, Mary Smith; and an uncle, John Toothman.  He is survived by his wife of one year, Linda Mooney Smith; one son, Shawn Smith (Rhonda); two sisters, Jeanette Smith Lavigne and Annette Smith; an aunt, Lela Toothman; and two granddaughters, Kaylee Smith and Brooklyn Smith.

A memorial service will be held, Friday, September 3, 2021 at 11:00am in the chapel at Russell Haven of Rest.  Visitation with the family will be one hour prior at 10:00am.
