John Lee Cummings, 85

John Lee Cummings, 85, of Middleburg, FL passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2021.  John was born in Syracuse, New York and moved to the Clay County area over 40 years ago.  John was known as “Papa” to his family and those closest to him.  He loved reading, listening to southern gospel music and fixing things, especially clocks.  He was known to many as a sweet and lovable man who loved his family and the Lord.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Cummings and Olive Amadon; brothers, Vernon Cummings, Ted Cummings and Wayne Cummings; and sisters, Jeanette Hale and Margaret Cummings. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Cummings; sons, Austin Cummings (Angela) and Charles Latz; daughters, Linda Downing (David), Patti Cummings, and Ann Sweat (John); 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Saturday, March 6, 2021 in the Chapel of Russell Haven of Rest with Rev. Dalton Kilpatrick officiating.  Burial will follow in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00AM on Saturday.
