James William Tabor, 89
James William Tabor, 89, of Fleming Island, FL passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020. Mr Tabor was born in Crossville, Tennessee to the late William and Constance Pugh Tabor and was one of thirteen children. James and his wife, Lois, owned and operated the James W. Tabor and Son Electrical Company in Virginia prior to moving to Clay County 28 years ago. While living in Chesapeake, Virginia, James was a member of the Hickory Ruritan Club and served as the Commodore of the Great Bridge Cruise Club. He was also active in the Masonic Lodge. James enjoyed boating and traveling as hobbies. Mr. Tabor was civic minded and contributed to the growth of the small, rural community of Chesapeake. Family was most important to James or “Papa” to his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. He was a devoted husband and father.
Mr.Tabor is survived by one son, Richard Glen Tabor (Kennette); two daughters, Ginger Hampton (Tim) and Patricia Statzer; four grandchildren, Wesley Hewitt, Laura Hall (Jacyn), Jaime Spencer (James), and Andrew Hampton (Vanessa); eight great-grandchildren, Jerry (Jay), Madison, Bradley, Wayne, Melanie, Kaylyn, Tabor, and Ryan. He is preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 70 years, Lois Henry Tabor.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 10:30am in the chapel of Russell Haven of Rest with Joseph Levette officiating. Visitation with the family will begin at 10am. Burial will follow in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery.
