Abraham Benson “Ben” Ponder, 77

Abraham Benson “Ben” Ponder, 77, of Jacksonville, went home to be with the Lord on July 14, 2020.  He was born in Grady County, GA and has lived in Jacksonville since 1973.  Ben was a member of West Jacksonville Baptist Church and was the owner and operator of Ben’s RV Service.  He and his wife of 55 years formerly attended Missionary Baptist Church and Temple Baptist Church in Jacksonville.  Ben served as a deacon for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Rosa Ponder; son, Alan Ponder (wife, Terri); 2 daughters, Linda Smith & Christy Bohanan (husband, Jeremy); 2 brothers, Joe and Charles Ponder; 2 sisters, Faye Dozier & Mattie Adams; 4 grandchildren, Lauren Day (husband, Andrew), Jessi & Regan Ponder & Isabella Bohanan and 3 great-grandchildren, Blakely, Bryson and Brooks.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Thursday, July 16, 2020 at West Jacksonville Baptist Church, 5634 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville with interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park.  Pastor Rodney Kelly and Reverend Roger Worten will officiate.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
